Sheffield is the perfect base for Isosceles expansion to the North of England
Thirteen years ago, Isosceles came to Sheffield with the help of Creative Sheffield, the city’s economic development agency at that time. We took a small space in a client’s office on a hunch that Sheffield would provide the right environment to build on our success in the Southeast and develop our footprint in the North.
Since then, our vibrant and talented Sheffield team has grown from three accountants to a team of over 30 people providing fractional CFO, embedded accounting services and HR support to growing companies in the North.
Additionally, the Sheffield business economy has transformed. This transformation is due in no small part to the dynamism of its two universities, the creation of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the Innovation Centre, as well as private services companies like Isosceles and investors like Northern Gritstone investing in Sheffield.
We are excited about what we may achieve in the next thirteen years!
Mike O’Connell, founder and former CEO at Isosceles, commented, “It was fitting that Henri should be the person to open this office, as the reasons he is promoting opportunities in the North of England are the very reasons we chose Sheffield for our northern office twelve years ago.” Mike said, “The two universities have an excellent reputation for producing high-quality talent, particularly in finance and accounting, and the burgeoning creative digital sector and the healthcare and life sciences sector need services like ours to scale.”
Isosceles is an enabler of growth for Sheffield.
During his opening remarks, Henri Murison was generous with his words and time.
“At the partnership, we represent the voice of business in the North of England. To achieve our growth plan for this economy and become a counter-weight to London, we need to create an additional one million high-value jobs by 2050.” Henri said, “There are three enablers that will help us achieve that goal: the universities, logistics and the financial and professional services providers like Isosceles and Dains.”
A unique full-service business solution offering for growing companies in the North
Isosceles’ Sheffield office will also become the first full-service office within the newly formed Dains Group of companies, offering the full range of technical and commercial accounting services, fractional CFO support and HR services.
In 2022, Isosceles was acquired by PE-backed Dains Accountants. Midlands-based Dains, with Horizon Capital support, have embarked on an ambitious buy-and-build strategy to transform the traditional accounting practice model and offer a full-service package of both technical and commercial business solutions across the UK relevant to the entire lifecycle of their clients—a unique combination in the industry.
Richard McNeilly, CEO of the Dains Group, highlighted the opportunities in Sheffield for an advisory company like Dains when he said: “We are building something special with the Dains group of companies. I firmly believe if the region is going to be successful, it needs a vibrant and well-developed advisory community to support clients through thick and thin. A part of our combined DNA at Dains is to help clients on their journey. I am excited about our future here in Sheffield.”
